Away from the hustle and bustle of the action on the pitch, it was actually a quiet morning in Clarecastle when I met with Pat Fitzgerald at Clare GAA headquarters, earlier this month.
Whether you’re a Clare supporter or not, it’s hard to deny that Clare are always around at the business end of the hurling season. Maybe not as successful historically as Cork, Tipp or Kilkenny, but no less passionate, and still at the heartbeat of Munster hurling, along with Limerick and Waterford.
The Clare footballers have also enjoyed a good season, but I wasn’t really there to talk with Pat about matters on the pitch, more to get an insight as to why Clare GAA have been a supportive and consistent client of DB – for the best part of a decade.
”We pick up the phone and when we need it, we get support – it’s simple, really,” offered Pat.
In terms of requirements, the organisation are moving into the modern age.
With cheques being phased out they are looking at embracing online payment systems, and how best to get the most out of their Sage investment.
On the network side of things, they do not have huge demands.
“Six desktop computers, a server, and a couple of printers”, answered Pat, when I enquired as to the extent of the network infrastructure.
“We don’t have much, but we need it to work, and when it doesn’t, someone is always around to help,” he added.
As a Sage business partner, DB help Irish based SME’s, startups and established companies who are looking to streamline their IT systems to become more efficient, more effective, and more profitable.
Whilst DB have a few Clare-based companies as clients, for both IT support services, and Sage support services, in addition to the team at Clare GAA, it still often seems that DB are like a best kept secret, with many companies in Ennis and its environs, not aware that the largest and most successful Sage business partner are practically on their doorstep.
In addition to the headquarters office in Raheen Industrial estate, in Limerick, DB have remote staff working in Galway, Cork, Dublin, Tipperary and Clare, covering a nationwide database of clients.
A proud member of the Ennis Business Network, as well as members of Shannon Chamber, DB are reaching out to companies across Clare for prospective partners and clients alike, and are keen to extend the opportunity for building relationships.
